It would be awesome is HG made towns/cities that have unique missions, technologies, loot and more that add greater depth to the game.

The experience in VR is a tremendous achievement. Great job, thank you for the hours of enjoyment

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 06:31 AM PDT

I'm a pretty serious life-long gamer. Old man. Amateur guitarist. Father of three young sons. Cancer survivor. Academic. A pretty eclectic mixed bag of good, bad & indifferent and my preferences as a gamer are equally all over the shop.

I just wanted to come here and write a heartfelt congratulations to the developers for the experience I'm having with No Man's Sky in VR (PC, HTC Vive)

The game itself is really great, but in VR it's wonderment. You can find yourself on a hostile alien world, slowly suffocating, but staring up at some kind of cellestial anomaly dominating the skyscape. There's so much diversity and enjoyment to be had in the universe that's been created.

The only thing that I'd criticise about the game is that in being so ambitious and having such a wonderful time with it, for me it also highlights the missed opportunities. Kind of stuff that could turn it into one of those 'forever' games.

What I'd love to see in a sequel:

    - more diversity in sentient species. Not necessarily the mix-masher fauna creator (oh but I've found some lovely animals though ! My personal favourite was a chubby little flying cherub devil with teeny wings, horns and all). I'd work from a template ... carbon, mineral, AI, reptilian, disembodied, and also have racial attributes like hostile, friendly, greedy, kind .. (honestly, I'd even just be happy with a bit more diversity in the current species .. hulking bodies on the Vy'keen, Robotic diversity on the Korvax extra limbs, non bipedal variants, and a bit more body variation in the gek)

    - sentient species interaction .. I'd love to get caught up in randomised warfare between the species instead of the endless 'rescue a freighter' space combats.

    - settled worlds (instead of the random isolated settlements, it would be great to see settled worlds - can't imagine how that would materialise in-game, but even if they weren't fully 3D explorable but interactable in more of a novel RPG kind of way - accessing different kind of services if you have the rep)

    - sentient species settlers, a bit like in Fallout 4 maybe. An ability to hire them (and have to pay them monthly or whatever, something to grind for). Productive skills, hell even unproductive ones like musician. Just an ability to add further life to your bases, turn them into actual functional trading posts, mining outposts, whatever. They need to be fed and protected (so have base turrets and things like that)

    - water that freezes on frozen worlds (personal gripe, heh)

    - make black holes look more realistic (personal gripe)

    - mission diversity and more factional relevance to mission type (eg doing a job for one species might radically hurt your rep with another)

    - morality, kinda an extra layer to factional rep, where a faction sees your actions as good or evil and attributes rep accordingly, so you could develop fame or infamy, one faction sees you as a KOS pirate, another respects you as a buccaneer.

Hey it's just my two cents while gushing, in case one of the genius folks who helped build this fantastic game laid eyes on it and it somehow influenced the next iteration, which I would definitely buy (hopefully be playing via a neural jack at that point instead of these misty goggles though).

    All the best
