Just found my perfect S class freighter. High capacity ones are pointless once you have all of your storage rooms built and maxed high capacity slots as well as a land base with storage containers. A lot of the lower slot freighters look far better especially with their moving parts.

I KNOW, I KNOW -- BUT COME ON HG, WE NEED BIOME DIVERSITY!!!!

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 08:57 AM PST

This game has so much potential and is fun, but I get instantly bored warping over 10 times because every planet is the exact same as a previous galaxy. We have GOT to get Biome Diversity where every galaxy looks truly different. PLEASE.

Does anyone wish there were an audible sonic boom for when you pulse out of orbit?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 07:55 AM PST

Was thinking about this the other day.

Imagine if in Multiplayer there was a sonic boom locally for when you pulse into orbit?

    The Five Rules of Permadeath

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 08:49 AM PST

I always feel a little sad when I see someone make a permadeath death post. Some deaths come from glitches, and that's frustrating. The majority I've seen however come from carelessness. So with that, I decided I would put together some rules of permadeath play. Every one of these was inspired by someone's death post. Some may sound like no-brainers, but it only takes one screw-up to potentially flush that save down the drain, no matter how long you've had it. Reminders are always good. But first off...

Rule 0: Don't start your first No Man's Sky adventure on permadeath. Start with normal. Make sure you're familiar with how the various systems and technologies work before trying to tackle a permadeath game. Otherwise you'll only meet death and sadness, over and over.

And now, my Five Rules of Permadeath.

    1. Avoid taking unnecessary risks. You only have one life, and if you screw up that's it. Taking risks is an integral part of the game, and sometimes you can't avoid them. Only take them if you need to, not because you want to.
    2. Always keep materials to recharge your hazard protection, life support, and terrain manipulator on-hand. Sodium, oxygen, ferrite, batteries, oxygen capsules, whatever you want. Just have a good supply at all times. Why the terrain manipulator? Because if you get caught in a storm away from shelter, you can dig a hole to hide in; if you're lucky, you can dig to a nearby cave to recharge.
    3. Never go AFK if you're not in a safe space. Some say never go AFK period, but I'm ok with pausing the game inside a building, on a space station, etc. Any place where the environment won't possibly kill you is probably fine. If you really want to be safe though, save and exit if you need to walk away. Note: no place counts if you have multiplayer on; AFK at your own risk around other players.
    4. Always watch for predators while planetside. Not all predators are equal. Some are merely nuisances, while others will knock you for a loop. Some are solo, some swarm. All are protected by the sentinels. Keep an eye out for that red paw symbol. Shoot when the bots aren't looking, run otherwise.
    5. Never install the plasma launcher or geology cannon on your multitool. They're not called the suicide cannons for nothing. Seriously. Don't do it. You can kill everything in the game just fine without the plasma launcher, and the terrain manipulator is plenty fast for digging. If you absolutely must have them (see Rule 1), install them on a separate multitool dedicated to them.
