He shot me with a photon cannon while I was trying to tame creatures/do the weekend mission. Shield down, health bar at zero. I dug a tunnel to have a moment to think about what's happening. He landed, followed me in the tunnel and shot at me with his plasma launcher. Another shield down. I then hid my icons in the menu to be 'off radar' and flew away.

This was the first time I've ever encountered such a thing in No Man's Sky universe.
