- I found a moon with a view of the station, blackhole and rings of it's parent planet. I don't usually upload these kinds of screen shots but this moon is special and I needed to share it.

- Noticed this cool living ship in the anomaly, then I realized it was my own. Sometimes she likes to change colors on me, but I've never seen her do the two tone thing before. Perhaps she's feeling conflicted about something?

No Man's Sky has a problem. Feedback and Ideas Posted: 25 Mar 2020 06:12 AM PDT To clarify, I am a day one player and have loved this game since I first booted in up in August 2016, and am eternally grateful to HG's for their continued support and content to keep this game fresh and feeling new. However. That's the problem. The content has no longevity and with a lot of features/components HG have added the novelty has worn off in a matter of 1-2 weeks. Let's take the Living Ship's update. The way you had to get your living ship was a great concept and idea. It made you feel like you are actually earning your ship and it was really cool HG making use a coordinate system in order to locate specific points on a planet to breed your ship. That I liked. The problem though is the space anomalies/encounters you find in space. Other than the frigates and a few other space encounters you have no interaction with them, You can not land, explore or even interact with them and it's merely eye candy, of which is very nice eye candy, but once you have discovered them all it becomes irrelevant and obsolete. It becomes a update that really has nothing other than to give the players some time to kill and once you have done the update, it just becomes another addition that provides no purpose for the player. There are so many features that HG have added that becomes mundane, obsolete, irrelevant once you spent 1-2 weeks playing and exploring it and then you are like "Well, what do I do now?" Explore? Now exploration is a problem. I am sure many have complained that since NEXT that biomes have lost their "Alien" look to them and are more hand-crafted than procedural. Cold planets in particular all have the same bluhish/white terrain colours and props are pretty much identical. That could also be said for Hot, Radioactive and Toxic. The Atlas Rises exotic biomes have also had no improvement done to them, other than the "One" species you can discover on them, while the megalith/Vision biomes have a very repetitive formulae to them and assets on them are pre-existing one's which are merely made larger. While I like these biomes, there is no feeling that it's something fresh or something you have never seen before. Grant Duncan at HG made a presentation at GDC 2015 regarding not wanting the player to feel like " Oh, look I know what this planet is" or "Oh, here we go its the same cold planet I just saw in the last system". He wanted the player to feel like it was something new, or give you a sense that your landing on a alien world that's new to the player. Sadly, current NMS does not offer that and it's more of a chore now landing on planets and wanted to explore them. Do not get me wrong. The game is beautiful, and I have moments where I land on a lush moon and go "WOW! What a view", but it's got to the point now for me where I know what to expect when I land on a planet and do not really feel anything, or feel like its new to me. Exploration needs a better gameplay loop. Not just in variety, but in the way you explore a biome. I remember when Sean said dependant on the distance the planet is from the sun, you would find specific resources based on that. I would love for more survival elements added and a sense of dread to the game. Also, I feel what would really help is a feature that was sold to us by Sean and Grant pre-release about the closer you get to the centre, the more alien things get and harder it becomes for the player to explore. Sadly, in current NMS there is none of that. It would be great to see HG implement a path to the centre storyline and those actual features exist in the game. I understand not all of us want a "Endgame", but some would like a path set for them to venture out in and feel like there was a achievement accomplished. I understand NMS is a chill game and it is one of those game's that does that beautifully. It has helped me in so many ways on a personal level, so please do not think I am hating as I am a fanboy for this game. I love to hear your feedback and suggestions, and hope everyone is keeping safe and well at the terrible time. Sorry for the long winded post also. [link] [comments] | ||

Just died on my Perma Death game. Posted: 25 Mar 2020 05:00 AM PDT Landed on a planet, immediately got ganked by 3 cats, and that was it. Have to admit, Perma Death is far more exciting than Normal, so I'm absolutely starting another one! [link] [comments] |
